Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is a common term used to describe superficial pockets of trapped fat by bands of fibrous tissue, which cause uneven dimpling or “orange peel” skin. It appears in 90% post adolescent women (almost all women over the age of 20 have cellulite to some degree) and is rarely seen in men. Hormones and genetics seem to play a significant role in the formation of cellulite.

Typical areas where cellulite is found include buttocks, thighs, and the abdomen. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not related to obesity, since it occurs in overweight, average, and thin women. The appearance of cellulite is not always reduced by weight loss. Even liposuction does not always address the problem of cellulite.

The Dermosonic method, using ultrasound, is a two-stage process. The first stage incorporates ultrasonic waves to penetrate beneath the skin creating fibrosis breakage, stimulating blood circulation and literally liquefying fat deposits. This important and unique first stage prepares the tissue for the second stage of the Dermosonic method, which comprises of elongation of connective tissue, dispersion of fat deposits and the promotion of lymphatic drainage using specialized vibratory and suction techniques. This stage is called Non-Invasive Sub-dermal Therapy, or N.I.S.T. A typical two stage treatment lasts 60 minutes and many clients experience visible results after only one treatment. In addition, a very common side benefit of this cellulite treatment is inch loss and improved body contouring.

The Dermosonic method has been used in Europe with excellent results since 1999. The distinctive difference between the Dermosonic method and other cellulite reduction methods such as Endermologie, is the addition of FDA approved ultrasound technology which greatly increases the ease and effectiveness of the more conventional vibratory and suction techniques which are used to manipulate the connective tissue and fatty deposits.

This is an excellent adjunct to be used before and after liposuction. Dermosonic treatments before liposuction helps in increasing the amount of fat suctioned during surgery. Treatments after the surgery helps in smoothing out focal areas of irregularities.
